Sleep routine and biorhythm
The biggest stumbling block after summer is sleep. In summer, we often go to bed later — festivals, barbecues, long evenings spent with friends. But the body craves regularity.
- Gradual adjustment of bedtime: If you’re used to going to bed after midnight, start falling asleep 15–20 minutes earlier each day until you reach your ideal bedtime.
- Wake up with morning light: Instead of waking up to an alarm, try letting natural daylight into your room. It will help regulate your internal clock.
- Digital detox in the evening: At least 30 minutes before bedtime, put away your phone and allow yourself a calmer transition into the night—such as herbal tea a short reading session, or stretching.
Focus-Boosting Rituals
The transition from holiday relaxation back to work or school is not just about time management but also about the ability to focus.
- Tech-free morning start: Spend the first 10 - 15 minutes after waking up on yourself - do a short breathing exercise, drink a glass of water with lemon, or try some gentle movement.
- Work in focused blocks: Concentration has natural limits. Try dividing your day into 60 - 90-minute work blocks and take short breaks in between.
- Your personal “reset ritual”: This could be a short walk, a quiet cup of tea, or a few minutes of mindful breathing. It helps reset your mind and clear your head.
Stability and Consistency
Consistency isn’t boring - it’s a signal to the body that it can relax and function without stress.
- Eat at roughly the same time: Digestion is closely tied to your biorhythm. When your body knows when to expect energy, it uses it more efficiently.
- Exercise at a consistent time: Whether it’s a morning run or evening yoga, repeating it at the same time supports not only fitness but also sleep quality.
- Short daily routines: For example five minutes of gratitude in the evening or a regular stretch break at work.
Indian Summer – An Opportunity to Recharge
September days with gentle sunshine and golden nature are a gift. Instead of shutting ourselves indoors, let’s make the most of the Indian summer.
- Sunset walks: The light of the Indian summer has a soothing effect on the mind.
- Gentle outdoor exercise: Cycling, hiking, yoga on the grass - anything that connects us with nature also strengthens immunity.
- Harvest seasonal produce: Apples, pears, nuts, or rose hips - autumn ingredients are packed with vitamins that boost immunity during the colder months.
- Enjoy your weekends: Whether you spend them alone or with family, actively or relaxing, new experiences bring a fresh spark to life.
